Servings: 10-12 servings

Prep Time: 20-30 mins

Chilling Time: 6-8 hours

Total Time: 8+ hours

Ingredients

  • 6-7 oz ladyfingers

  • 12 oz Mascarpone cheese softened

  • 1 cup Nutella; divided

  • 1.5-2 cups brewed coffee

  • 1/4 cup coffee liquor- optional

  • 1.25-1.5 cup heavy whipping cream

  • Cocoa nibs or roasted hazelnut pieces; optional

Directions:

  1. In an electric/stand mixer add the softened mascarpone cheese. Add the heavy cream and whisk it together on low-medium speed. Scrape the edges of the bowl in between. Whisk till it thickens and becomes fluffy and forms soft peaks and is well combined.

  2. Add 3/4 cup of Nutella and mix on low and combine. Do not over-whip it, you want the fluffy consistency.

  3. Assemble: You can assemble in a big bowl or smaller individual bowls.

  • If you are using liquor, mix coffee and liquor.

  • Soak each ladyfinger in coffee and firm a base layer in a bowl.

  • Top and spread a layer of the cream mixture over it.

  • Spread some of the remaining Nutella over the cream mixture and sprinkle some of the cocoa nibs or roasted hazelnut pieces.

  • Repeat the layers of ladyfingers, Nutella mascarpone cream, and Nutella, 2-3 more times.

  • On the top layer of cream make your final garnishes. I used Nutella and cocoa nibs to decorate the middle and piped Nutella mascarpone along the edges.

4. Chill for 6-8 hours up to overnight and serve. Chilling helps the flavors soak in. It’s always better the next day.

5. Take it out about 20 mins before serving and enjoy!

Notes/Tips:

  • If you can’t get ladyfingers you can use slices of pound cake.

  • Use strong coffee so you get the flavor of coffee to pair with Nutella. I used brewed Nespresso at home.

  • Be sure to use room-temperature mascarpone cheese.

  • Scrape the edges of the bowl and mix the cheese and cream well so it does not curdle or separate. Do NOT over-mix.

  • Be sure to let it chill. It always tastes better the next day/overnight.
