Crispy Bottom Saucy Loaded Dumplings
Dumplings are a food group I swear by! This is such a fun recipe taking frozen dumplings to the next level. I toss the frozen dumplings in a delicious spicy peanut sauce mixture and then give it a super crispy bottom! It’s a perfect weekday dinner recipe. The dumplings have a delicious sauce that coats it and the scallions add so much to it! a cornstarch and sesame seeds crust on th bottom gives it a perfect bite! Have these with soup or noodles or rice or just as is.

Servings: 6-8 servings
Prep Time: 10 mins
Cooking Time: 30 mins
Total Time: 40 mins
Ingredients:
2 tbsp sesame oil, divided
3-4 Scallions chopped, I save some greens to garnish.
2 Garlic cloves minced
1 tsp Ginger grated
1.5 tsp Soy sauce
0.5 tsp Vinegar
1 tsp Sriracha
1 tsp Sweet chili sauce
2 tsp peanut butter
450g of your favorite frozen dumplings
1 cup Water; divided; check notes
1 tbsp Corn starch
2 tsp Sesame seeds
Directions:
Put a heavy bottom pan on low-medium heat add 1 tbsp sesame oil.
Once it heats up, add the chopped scallions, minced ginger and garlic and cook for 2-3 mins till fragrant.
Add sriracha, sweet chili sauce, vinegar, peanut butter and soy sauce and mix together.
Add 1 tbsp oil and add frozen gyozas and give a toss in the pan coating the dumplings.
Once tossed, assemble the dumplings upright on the pan and let it cook for 2-3 mins.
As per dumpling package instructions, add water to the pan. I added 1/3 cup water. Cover the pan and let the dumplings steam till soft.
While its steaming, combine corn starch, 1/2 cup water and sesame seeds in a mixing bowl.
Once the dumplings are steamed, increase the heat and pour the corn starch mixture in the spaces between the dumplings.
Let it cook for 4-6 mins till its cooked through and not raw.
Take it off the pan and garnish with greens of the scallions.
Serve immediately with soy and chili sauce.
Notes/Tips:
I used Trader Joes Veggie frozen gyozas, you can use you any. OR you can make your own and freeze them!
The amount of water you need to steam the dumplings may change as per the dumplings you use. For the ones I used 1/3 cup was good.
You can use peanut or vegetable oil if you don’t have sesame oil.
Make sure you pour the cornstarch mixture in the spaces to get the crispy bottom.
When tossing the dumplings make sure they are well coated.
