Bubble tea bombs

I am a huge fan of bubble tea so I had to make bubble tea bombs- cause why not? I loved making them- chocolate spheres, filled with bubble tea powder, boba pearls and edible rose petals. Dropped these in hot milk for the magic of bubble tea and then topped it with ice. Such a fun treat and you can fill it with any flavor of bubble tea. They make great gifts and are so different that people will love them, maybe it’s the start of a new trend?

Happy Cooking!

Servings:  6-7 large bombs

Prep Time: 20 mins

Chilling Time: 10 mins

Total Time: 30 mins

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cup chocolate wafers- I used white

  • 2/3 cup bubble tea powder

  • 1/2 cup tapioca/boba pearls

  • 2 tbsp edible rose petals (Optional)

  • 2 cups hot milk per bomb

Directions:

  1. Melt white chocolate in a double boiler or in a microwave. If in a microwave melt it for 1 min and stir and then in 20 sec intervals stirring in between each.

  2. Spoon the melted chocolate into your mould and spread it out throughout the sphere. It should be well coated.

  3. Place a cling wrap & Flip it over and remove excess chocolate. Squeeze out the cling wrap to get the excess chocolate.

  4. Using a knife, clean out the edges of the mould. This helps it unmold it cleanly.

  5. Let it chill in the fridge for 10 mins till set.

  6. Prepare the tapioca pearls according to your package instructions- I boiled them for 5-8 mins covered. Removed it from the boiling water and placed in ice water and then strained it.

  7. Carefully un-mold the spheres.

  8. Fill half of the spheres with 2 tbsp of the bubble tea powder eat. Top it off with 1 tbsp of boba pearls. Sprinkle some edible rose petals on top of the boba.

  9. Heat a pan and carefully warm up the edges of the empty spheres. You want it to melt slightly which will melt the edges and will act as the glue to stick the spheres together.

  10. Place the heated edge of the sphere over the filled sphere edge. Press down slightly to help seal it. Let it set for 1-2 mins in the fridge.

  11. Pipe some of the melted chocolate over the balls and sprinkle some rose petals over it to garnish. Make sure to do this quickly so that it sticks to the melted chocolate.

  12. They are ready!

  13. When ready to serve, heat 2 cups of milk. Pour milk in a cup. Drop the bubble tea bombs in the hot milk and let it melt. Stir! Top it off with ice and serve.

Notes/Tips:

  • Do not make the chocolate sphere too thick.

  • Prepare boba as per package instructions and ensure it is well cooked- soft outside and chewy inside.

  • Make sure the chocolate spheres are set before unmolding.

  • Make sure your milk is warm so that the chocolate shell melts.

  • These store well in a cool dark space or in the fridge if it is warm out.
