Truffle Cream Cheese Dumplings

Ready for an explosion in your mouth? These dumplings are an explosion of cheesy creamy goodness. Cream cheese dumplings with Truffle Oil are going to your next favourite dumpling! Make these and see how you will keep wanting them. The spicy notes from chilli just accentuates the flavour and it is brilliant! This is inspired by Dumplings at one of my favorite restaurants in Kolkata, India and since i missed them so much i decided to recreate them & added my own flair to it!

Steam or fry these and it will be a super hit! Pairs perfectly with a chilli dipping sauce.

Servings: 15- 18 dumplings

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cooking Time: 3-6 minutes

Total Time: 20 mins

Ingredients: 

  • 8 oz Cream cheese

  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onions

  • 2 green chilies finely chopped

  • 1/2 cup finely chopped green onions

  • 1 tsp Salt

  • 1/2 tsp Pepper

  • 1 tsp Ginger paste (optional)

  • 1.5 tsp Garlic paste (optional)

  • 8 drops Truffle oil (optional)

  • 15-18 Dumpling wrappers

Directions: 

  • In a bowl, whisk the cream cheese so it completely smooth.

  • Add the onions, chillies, green onions to the cream cheese.

  • Add the salt & pepper to the bowl.

  • Add the ginger and garlic paste to the bowl. (If using it)

  • Mix it well together with a spatula.

  • Add 8 drops of truffle oil and mix well. (If using it)

  • Place the mixture in dumpling wrapper and fold. ( I have shown 2 methods with square wrappers in the video)

  • Boil some water in a wide pan. Size of the pan depends on the steamer.

  • Place the dumplings in a steamer. Do not overcrowd it.

  • Place the steamer in the wide pan and steam for 5-7 minutes till completely cooked. Time depends on the steamer and size of dumplings.

  • Check to see if they are done after 4-5 minutes of steaming. They should be translucent and glossy with no opaque spots.

  • Serve with a chilli sauce.

Notes/Tips:

  • Make sure the cream cheese is smooth before adding more ingredients in.

  • The ingredients should be finely chopped so that they they do not break the dumpling wrapper

  • Depending on your steamer, you may want to slightly grease it.

  • Do not overcrowd the steamer.

  • Steaming should take not more than 7-9’minutes otherwise they can explode.

  • Serves well with a chilli sauce
