Ricotta Honey Dip with Garlic Herbed Toasties

This is a delicious recipe inspired by a dish I had at LaScala's Fire, a restaurant in New Jersey. Jiggy and I loved it so much that I needed to recreate it. So I put my own spin on it and paired the ricotta honey with garlic toasties The flavors work so well with each other and balance each other beautifully. It is so easy to make and is perfect for parties, cheese boards, charcuterie boards, or even wine night. You can have this ready in less than 30 minutes and it gives the feels of a fancy dish. The ricotta honey dip is one of the easiest things to make and is so creamy with a hint of sweetness. This is a dip even kids love to have! I hope you love it as much as we do.

Happy Cooking!

Servings: 15-20 oz jar good for 6-8 people

Prep Time: 10 mins

Cooking Time: 15 mins

Total Time: 25 mins

Ingredients:

Garlic herbed bread:

  • 50g butter

  • 30g Olive oil

  • 10 oz bread, check notes for ideal bread type

  • 3-4 tbsp chopped herbs- I used a mixture of basil, parsley, and rosemary

  • 8-10 cloves Minced garlic

  • 1 tsp Chilli flakes as per taste

  • 1-1.5 tsp Salt to taste

  • 1/4 tsp Pepper

Ricotta Honey:

  • 1.75 cups Ricotta cheese at room temperature

  • 2 tbsp heavy cream

  • 1-1.5 tsp fresh cracked Pepper

  • 1/2-1 tsp salt

  • 1/4-1/3 Cup Honey

Directions:

  1. Garlic herbed bread: Slice bread into small pieces or long strips.

  2. In a pan add butter and oil. Melt the butter with the oil and mi together.

  3. Add minced garlic and cook on low flame.

  4. Once the garlic starts getting fragrant and starts to brown slightly add herbs, spices, and mix.

  5. Pour in a bowl and keep aside. You can make this mixture and keep it from before.

  6. When ready to serve, keep a pan on low-medium heat.

  7. Add some of the garlic mixtures to a pan flip the bread in it, covering both sides in the mixture.

  8. Cook both sides till toasty. Add some of the garlic mixtures over the bread if need be. Cook all the sliced bread with the garlic mixture.

  9. Ricotta honey- In a bowl add ricotta, pepper, heavy cream, and salt and whisk it together.

  10. Pour it in a mason jar/bowl in what you would serve, with some layers of honey in between.

  11. Serve it with the herbed garlic bread.

Notes/Tips:

  • Make sure the ricotta is room temperature so that it is not gritty and the texture is smooth.

  • Ideally use fresh cracked pepper, it enhances the flavor if you don’t have to use any black pepper.

  • Bread- I used an Italian bread loaf. You can use any bread you like. I like to use a little dryer bread as it soaks the butter well and crisps better. But if you like you can use soft white bread too.

  • Do not let the garlic get too dark while making the mixture. It heats up again while toasting bread so you do not want burnt garlic.

  • You can make the butter mixture and keep it from before. Assemble the ricotta honey jar and toast the bread before serving. You can keep the ricotta jar for a day but the layers can mix together and the honey sits at the bottom which affects the presentation.
