Servings: 12 -15 slices

Prep Time: 20-30 mins

Cooking Time: 15-25 mins

Total Time: 45-50 mins

Ingredients:

  • 14oz soft bread loaf; i used an Italian bread loaf

  • 6-7 tbsp softened unsalted butter

  • 1 tsp chili flakes

  • 1/8 tsp salt

  • 1/8 tsp pepper

  • 1 tbsp garlic paste

  • 1/2 tbsp basil pesto

  • 1/2 cup corn kernels

  • 1-2 jalapenos chopped

  • 1/2-3/4 cup pizza sauce; check notes

  • 12-14 oz mozzarella cheese cut in slices

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to temperature to 375F.

  2. In a bowl take the softened butter and use a whisk to whip it till fluffy.

  3. Add salt, pepper, chili flakes, pesto and garlic paste and mix it. Keep aside.

  4. In a bowl mix the corn kernels and chopped jalapenos.

  5. Take the loaf of bread and place it on a larger piece of foil paper big enough to cover the side edges of the loaf.

  6. Use a sharp knife and cut the bread in slices but not all the way through to the bottom so that you can pull it apart after it’s ready. I like to keep the slices about an inch thick.

  7. Spread butter in between the bread slices.

  8. Spread pizza sauce in between the bread slices enough to cover it.

  9. Fill corn and pepper in between the bread slices.

  10. Take the slices of cheese and push it into the bread slices.

  11. Bake in the preheated oven at 375 F for 18-25 minutes till the bread is crispy and the cheese has melted.

  12. Take out and serve hot!

Notes/Tips:

  • I recommend using the homemade pizza sauce. If you want store bought, thicken the sauce so it doesn’t make the bread soggy.

  • You can add other veggies if you want like chopped peppers or onions.

  • Using sliced mozzarella click here for the recipe 3ese helps give an even bake and better cheese pulls.

  • Do not spread too much sauce and make the bread soggy.

  • When spreading pizza sauce and butter spread it all the way to the base and not just the top.

  • Make sure you don’t cut the bread slices all the way through.

  • Use any soft bread loaf you can get.
