Macaroni Hot Pot Baked Dish
Macaroni Hot Pot is one of my favorite meals ever! It is a nostalgic meal for me and a family & friends favorite! Super easy to make and so delicious that there isn’t any reason not to make it. Kids as well adults love this. The cheesy crusty layers along with the tomato gravy and baked beans makes an unforgettable meal. Once you make it you will keep making it, trust me!
Happy Cooking!
Servings: 4-5 people
Prep Time: 15 mins
Cooking Time: 30 mins
Total Time: 45 mins
Ingredients:
8 oz Macaroni/Elbow pasta- 4 cup boiled
1-2 cup pasta water
2 cups baked beans
2 cups white/béchamel sauce
3 tbsp ketchup/chili sauce
2 cup grated cheese.
1 tsp salt
1 tsp chili flakes
1/2 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp sugar
2 tbsp Oil
Directions:
Boil 8 oz pasta till it is al dente. (Check pasta box for instructions) Reserve pasta water.
Prepare white sauce- using this recipe.
In a pan heat 2 tbsp oil.
Add baked beans to the pan.
Add in the ketchup/chill sauce along with salt, pepper, sugar and chilli flakes and mix it together.
Add white sauce and mix it in.
Add the boiled pasta with the pasta water and mix it in till combined.
Pour half of the pasta in a baking dish. I used a 34 oz baking dish.
Sprinkle 1 cup of grated cheese over the pasta layer and broil all the cheese and melted.
Layer the rest of the pasta over the cheese.
Sprinkle the rest of the cheese and broil till the cheese is melted and golden brown.
Serve warm. Pairs great with bread rolls or garlic bread.
Notes/Tips:
Use any cheese that melts well, i use Amul or any Italian mix.
I like using a mix of Baked beans.
I use Maggi chilli sauce or any ketchup.
If you use a bigger pasta like penne increase white sauce to 2.5-3 cups.
Do not bake the cheese layers as it can dry the pasta out if baked too long. This is why I broil the cheese.
You can add a pinch of dried basil to the seasoning as well.
If you like it more liquid, use 2 cup of pasta water, or add 1/2 cup of milk.
You can make it as a single layer without the cheese crust in the middle. The layer inside is a fun surprise in every bite!
Freezing and storing- You can make it as a single layer and freeze these and keep. I would increase the liquid quantity in that case Just defrost and bake.
