Prepare ganache. Recipe and video here.
Let it cool and crumble it. Keep aside.
Scrape the cream off the Oreo cookies and keep aside.
In a food processor add the Oreo cookies (not the cream) and grind till fine. Pour in melted butter and salt and blitz again till combined.
Transfer to a baking dish and press down to form the base. Let it chill in the fridge for 10-15 mins.
In a bowl add cream cheese and Oreo cream and beat till smooth using an electric/stand mixer. Add sugar and beat it in. Scrape down the edges of the bowl.
Add heavy cream and vanilla and mix using a spatula. Whisk together till soft peaks.
Over the Oreo layer, put a layer of the cream cheese cream.
Layer with cake crumbles.
Pour ganache over the cake crumble layer. Let it chill in the fridge for 10 mins.
Spread the remaining cream over the layers. Sprinkle chocolate chips or shavings over it.
Let it chill for 5-6 hours or overnight.
Take it out 20 mins before servings. Scoop out in bowls and serve.
Notes/Tips:
You can use a devils food cake mix or moist chocolate cake mix if you like.
Letting the trifle set overnight helps the flavors set in well.
Be careful while making the cream cheese whipped cream so that you’ll break the cream.
If you make it in deeper bowl, you can repeat the layers of cake cream and ganache if you like.
This lasts well in the fridge for 2 days.
