Falafel Burger Taco

Taking three of my favorite foods and making it into 1! Falafel burger Taco- using a single side of a burger filling it falafel and favorite toppings which you can hold as a taco! And tell me which food isn’t better in taco form? You can make it with homemade falafels or use the shortcut of falafel mix or ready falafels, whose going to know?! Give Taco Tuesdays a twist with these. Perfect for weekday dinners, movie nights and obviously super bowl. You’ll probably be ticking lot of check boxes with this single dish!

Servings: 6-8 servings

Prep Time: 30-45 minutes

Cooking Time: 15 mins

Total Time: 1 hour

Ingredients: 

  • 3-4 burger buns

  •  4-5 falafels (1-1.5 per side of the bun) , check notes

  • 1/4 cup hummus, for homemade hummus click here.

  • 1-3 tbsp Harissa or chili paste

  • 2-4 tbsp sweet chili sauce

  • 1 cup romaine lettuce chopped

  • 3-4 slices of tomatoes cut in half

  • 1 medium red onion’s rings

  • 2 tbsp lemon juice

  • 2 tbsp crumbled feta

  • 3 tbsp greek yogurt; check notes

Directions: 

  1. Pour lemon juice over the onions and mix.

  2. Prepare falafels and make sure they are crispy.

  3. Take burger buns and press each side down with your palm.

  4. Spread a good amount of hummus on each bun.

  5. Spread some harissa and sweet chili sauce on each side.

  6. Place lettuce and half of the tomato over it.

  7. Slightly crush the falafel and place it over.

  8. Drizzle yogurt over the falafel.

  9. Place onions over it and its ready!

  10. Crumble feta cheese over them!

  11. Hold as a taco and enjoy!

Notes/Tips:

  • You can make your own falafels, use readymade or make it with falafel mix. Either way works, just make sure it is crispy, whether you decide to deep fry, air fry or bake them! Deep fried is always the best.

  • Use any burger buns you like, plain, sesame or everything bagel seasoned.

  • Flatten the bun well so that it’s to hold like a taco.

  • If you can always use homemade hummus, its so much better!

  • I used an everything yogurt dip. You can use a tzatziki dip or plain greek yogurt. You could also use sour cream.

  • Don’t skip on the feta cheese.
