Cracker Chaat

Any form of chaat is always a good idea, you gotta try this Cracker chaat which is a great idea. A spiced potato mixture on top of crackers topped with chutneys and sev, it is so good and works exceptionally well. It is almost like a hack to getting a perfect crispy bite every single time. The crackers are crispy and soft which makes these a perfect base for chaat. These are perfect for a quick snack or as an appetizer when you are entertaining. They take less than 15 mins to make and are so yummy they will be polished off in that much time as well.

Servings: 20- 22 pcs

Prep Time: 10 mins

Cooking Time: 5-10 mins

Total Time: 15-20 mins

Ingredients: 

  • 20- 22 crackers- ritz or Monaco

  • 3-4 medium golden potatoes; boiled, peeled and mashed

  • 1/4 cup onions

  • 1/8-1/4 tsp salt 

  • 1/8 tsp black salt

  • 1/8 tsp sugar

  • 1/4 tsp chaat masala

  • 1/4 tsp red chili powder

  • 1/4 tsp cumin powder

  • 1/4 cup green chutney 

  • 1/4 cup tamarind chutney

  • 2-3 tbsp Sev

  • Coriander leaves to garnish

Directions: 

  1. In a mixing bowl add mashed potatoes, chopped onions, salt, black salt, sugar, chaat masala, red chili powder, and cumin powder, and mix to form the mixture.

  2. Scoop about 1.5 tbsp of the potato mixture on the cracker.

  3. Pour about 1/2 tsp of the coriander chutney and tamarind chutney over the potato mixture.

  4. Drizzle some sev over it.

  5. Garnish with a coriander leaf and they are ready!

Notes/Tips:

  • You can make the potato topping from before and keep it in the fridge. Bring it to room temperature before assembling.

  • You can also add yogurt above the potato topping.

  • These stay crispy for 20-30 mins (without adding yogurt)

  • Make sure the potatoes are boiled well so they mash easily.
