Cheesy Loaded Potato Sliders

These are delicious easy oven-baked sliders that are full of flavor, giving a fun way to use tater tots. The sliders are layered with sauces- a creamy one and pest, along with shredded slaw and fresh veggies for crunch, tots for the body, and melted cheese making it a perfect bite. To take these sliders to the next level they are baked in the oven with a butter mixture poured over it which has seasonings that soak into the buns and add this amazing flavor to the sliders. It’s an explosion of flavors and textures from the first to the last bite. I love making these sliders when I have guests over because it’s easy to make and cook in the oven and they’re so yummy that they are always wiped clean!

Happy Cooking!

Prep Time: 10-15 mins

Baking Time: 30 mins

Total Time: 40-45 mins

  • 6 slider rolls

  • 3-4 mozzarella cheese slices

  • About 3/4 lb tater tots; cooked- I used frozen and air fried them

  • ½ small yellow onion cut in rings

  • 1/3 stick butter melted

  • 2 tbsp mayo

  • 1.5 tbsp ketchup

  • 1-2 tbsp pesto

  • ½-⅔ cup slaw

  • 1/2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tsp chili flakes

  • 1 tsp oregano

  • 1/2 tbsp sesame seeds

Directions:

  1. In a bowl mix ketchup and all of the mayonnaise. Keep aside.

  2. Cook tater tots as per package instructions and keep them aside.

  3. Preheat the oven to 350F.

  4. Assembly: Assemble the buns on a parchment-lined baking tray to make it easier.

    • Slice slider buns horizontally in half.

    • On the bottom half of the buns spread the mayo mixture.

    • Top it with shredded slaw mixture and then place tots over them and gently press down.

    • Layer with cheese slices over it.

    • Top with sliced onions over the cheese slices.

    • Spread pesto on the top part of the slider buns.

    • Sandwich the slider buns.

    • Using a toothpick poke holes on the slider buns. be sure to get all the buns all over.

  5. Butter mixture- Melt butter and mix the brown sugar, chili flakes, oregano, and sesame seeds.

  6. Pour the butter mixture over the buns and spread it all over.

  7. Cover the buns with foil and bake for 30-35 mins at 350F.

  8. Let it rest for 3-5 mins once out of the oven.

  9. Remove the foil, cut, and serve.

  10. You can serve these with any condiments you like

Notes/Tips:

  • Use savory slider buns. Sweet buns can make this recipe too sweet. If you use sweet buns, skip the brown sugar in the butter but i recommend using savory buns.

  • Do NOT forget to poke the holes on the slider buns.

  • Covering with foil is a must.

  • I like using mozzarella cheese because it melts well but a pepper jack cheese also works so well.

  • You can use shredded cheese instead of cheese slices but i recommend cheese slices for a more even melt.

  • Make sure your tater tots are cooked well.
