Everything Bagel cream cheese filled Croissant

Imagine a bagel seasoned with everything bagel seasoning filled with cream cheese BUT it’s super flaky like a Croissant. Giving you CROGEL! That sounds absolutely fabulous right?! As my husband says if you have to make only one of my recipes this would definitely be in that list. It’s flaky, buttery, creamy with the seasoning just taking it over the edge. I tried this in a bakery in Chestertown and I fell in love with it. I had to recreate an easier version you can make at home with only 3 ingredients!! Obviously if you can make your own croissant dough then I highly recommend that, but for this I used store bought crescent dough sheets. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, snacks, appetizer, for your charcuterie board, you name it!! You need to try this and wow everyone.

Servings: 6 regular or 12 small

Prep Time: 20 mins

Cooking Time: 18-22 mins

Total Time: 45 mins

Ingredients: 

  • 16 oz crescent dough sheet - 2 rolls

  • 6-8 oz cream cheese

  • 3 tbsp everything bagel seasoning

  • 1 egg or 1/4 cup milk

Directions: 

  1. Preheat the oven to 375F or to the temperature on the package.

  2. On a floured surface open the crescent roll sheet. Using a pizza cutter cut each sheet into 9 strips.

  3. Assemble: Use 3 strips for each croissant bagel. See the video to see how to make it.

    • Use one strip to form the base in a circular motion.

    • Use the second strip to form the wall and add height around it.

    • Use the third strip to fill in the centre area and leave a centre round open.

  4. Transfer to a lined baking tray.

  5. Use egg wash (check notes) or milk and brush the croissant bagels.

  6. Sprinkle everything bagel seasoning over it.

  7. Bake for 13-15 mins till baked though and golden brown. Be sure to check the crescent dough package instructions for baking time incase it’s longer.

  8. Once out of the oven, make a hole in the centre of the croissant bagel.

  9. Put the softened cream cheese in a piping bag and cut the mouth which can fit into the hollowed centre of the croissant bagel.

  10. Put the piping bag mouth in and pipe in cream cheese till it fills it. Pipe it all the way to the top and take it out. Fill all the croissant bagels.

  11. Bake at 375F for 4-6 mins.

  12. Take out of the oven and serve immediately.

  13. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes/Tips:

  • If you can use homemade croissant dough for the BEST results.

  • Make sure the cream cheese is softened or it won’t pipe.

  • You can use a cream cheese flavor of your choice.

  • If you don’t have everything bagel seasoning at home you can make it- an equal mixture of poppy seeds, sesame seeds, dried minced garlic, dried minced onions, black sesame seeds and flaky sea salt.

  • Do not skip the egg wash/ milk coating. It helps the bagel seasoning to stick to it and gives it a color. Egg wash gives a shine as well.

  • Egg wash- whisk 1 egg yolk with 2 tbsp water and a pinch of salt.
